I was thinking of doing comparison posts of products a while ago, but I wasn’t sure what to call it…that was until Monday night, after I watched Lip Sync Battle. Hence the name ‘Lipstick Battle’.

Lipstick battle: Ulta3 Lip Paint in ‘Radical Red’ vs. Boe Professional Perfect Pout Lip Cream in ‘Sunset’

Boe Professional perfect pout lip creams are $6.95 exclusive to Big W

Boe Professional perfect pout lip cream in ‘Sunset’

Swatch: The Boe professional perfect pout lip cream in ‘Sunset’ goes on the lips a little sheer (top pic), so I decided to try it over a lip pencil (bottom pic) and it seemed to make it a lot more opaque. I used the Essence lip liner in ’07 Cute Pink’ $2 from Priceline

Packaging: A tube with a convenient doe-foot applicator. I find you need to shake/squeeze the tube to move the product around a bit before use.

Scent: There isn’t really a detectable scent

Texture: The texture is quite creamy and non drying. It is however sheer, but that could be because of the lighter shade and it can easily be fixed with colouring in your lips with a lip liner in a similar shade.

Ulta3 Lip paints are $5.95 from selected pharmacies

Ulta3 Lip paint in ‘Radical red’

Swatch: The Ulta3 lip paint in ‘radical red’ goes on opaque and evenly.

Packaging: A tube with a convenient doe-foot applicator. No need to squeeze the tube, as the product stays in place in the tube.

Scent: There is a very noticeably minty scent, it may be a put off for someone who is not a fan of mint or strong scents.

Texture:  A slightly stickier texture than the lip cream, but it still applies quite smoothly.  The inclusion of peppermint oil makes lips tingly when applied, but it goes away after a few minutes.

The result: Swatch: Ulta3, Packaging is a tie, Scent: Boe professional because it seems to be scent free, Texture: Ulta3 because of the opacity.

So while both products wear fairly well, this Lipstick battle goes to…Ulta3 Lip Paint in ‘Radical Red’

Have you tried either of these? what did you think?

Simple Flamingo nail art

Lately I have noticed a new trend of Flamingos on everything! Fabric, stationery and homewears. It has inspired me to create a super simple Flamingo nail art design.

Flamingo nail art shades:

flamingo nail artLeft to right: Rimmel 60 seconds vinyl shine in ‘Black out’ (now called 60 seconds super shine in ‘800 Blackout’), Chi Chi salon formula nail polish mini in ‘Boys Boys Boys’, Essie nail colour in ‘Madison ave hue’, piCture pOlish nail polish in ‘Fairy Floss’

1. Paint your nails with a blue polish as a base.
flamingo nail art2. Use the light pink shade (fairy floss) to paint your Flamingo’s body, neck and head. I used a toothpick to paint the neck and head, so they were not to thick/big.
flamingo nail art3. Using another toothpick, paint on the black details including the eye, beak and legs.
flamingo nail art4. Finish the design off by painting on the wings with the darker pink polish.
flamingo nail artWhat trends are you loving at the moment? I also noticed there are a lot of Banana things around, I wonder if this is because the Minions favourite food are Bananas?…coincidence haha
